The movie follows Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage), a talented but struggling stunt rider who makes a deal with the devil, Mephistopheles (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), to save the life of his mentor, Crash Simpson (Christopher Walken). Blaze agrees to become the host for the demon Zariel (Terrence Howard), but Zariel betrays him and bonds with Mephistopheles instead. Zariel transforms Blaze into the Ghost Rider, a fiery spirit with a skull for a head, who is hell-bent on seeking revenge against Mephistopheles.
The success of "Ghost Rider" led to a sequel, "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance," released in 2012, which also starred Nicolas Cage. The character has also appeared in various comic book series, animated TV shows, and video games.
